Below are some good tips on answering motivational interview questions from Career Trotter.

So you’ve checked out the personal interview questions and you are ready for the next step.

Within the motivational interview questions the company follows the same 3 questions. They may be asked in a different way but they are all asking the same thing.

It is important that you listen to what is being asked in the interview, as some of our candidates missed out on a great language job because they did not listen to the interviewer and what they were asking.

  1. Why would you like to work with this company?

In answering this question, the interviewer does not want to hear, anything about the location of the company or meaningless stats on the company.

What are they looking for?

For this motivational interview question they are looking for you explain what it is you know about them and what it is you like about them.

  1. Why would you like to work in (insert Country here)?

Your answer here can be as personal as you like, this is all about you here and why you would like to move and work abroad. For this motivational interview question you only talk about the country where you will need to relocate to for the job. You can say you went there on holidays and loved it and its culture etc.

  1. What do you like about (Job Title)?

Ok so there must have been a reason you applied for this job? This is what they are looking for. Don’t just read out the job description to the interviewer, we would recommend that you talk about what you understand about the job, what you will be responsible for in that position. It is important to throw in some keywords here ones that you would see in the job description.

It’s always a good idea here to relate back to previous experience, for example:

‘I like this job because….. I enjoyed doing this in my previous position as it          allowed me to….’
